The Angry Nintendo Nerd

Here's a little something I sort of bumped into via Jakanden's quite excellent (and fiercely progressive) blog: the Angry Nintendo Nerd. And in case you were wondering, this little something is a collection of pretty funny, definitely insightful and quite amusing Nintendo NES - Famicom video (video game also) reviews.

Here's a nice little teaser (here's the rest):

The Commodore 64 demoscene

Enjoy your free and/or indy games here, relive the days of Rogue here, experience the dark arts here, but stay right where you are, if all you really want is to watch what the Commodore 64 was actually capable of. What follows, you see, is an amazing video compilation of some of the more impressive productions of the C64 demoscene. And it's here, even though Kenzoid27 created it. More demo fun to be found here (Hoorah! that's 7 whole links).

Rayman's Raving Rabbits and another 29 Wii games

This isn't a post about World of Warcraft. No. It's a post about the -presumably- lovely Nintendo Wii, its 30 first games and some Raving Rabbits. It also is a post featuring a video and a pic. Actually, it is a post featuring a pic, a video and not much else. Anyway. Here's the pic bit:

And here's the Wii video games video bit (via Wii.tv):

Dead Rising: How to murder 60k Zombies.

Aeropause produced this most impressive of Dead Rising video walkthroughs, designed to teach aspiring undead slaughterers, how to swiftly rid their game worlds of enough zombies to earn them the prestigious Zombie Genocide Achievement. Go on. Watch the video. Gooood... Now, try it out yourself. You'll make old mother happy again....

Grand Theft Auto: LEGO City

Simply put, it's just a brilliant GTA video. In LEGO City. More of a stop-motion animation with LEGOS actually. And a definite GTA theme. Cute. Enough said. Words can be expensive.

Team Fortress 2 Class Struggle Video

Yes, apparently it's the old Spy vs. Spy vs. Sniper vs. Scout vs. Soldier thing. Only this time it's in definite cartoon style and showcasing the admittedly cute (someone said) Team Fortress 2. See for yourselves. See the light. See the video (via):

Monkey Island Music: LIVE and quite DEAD

Even though the brilliant Lucasarts Soundtracks is alive and kicking (thank you), it does lack something in the visuals department. That's why YouTube (via) is important. It's the only place I'm aware of, that features a video of Calipo A playing the Monkey Island theme. LIVE!

For something closer to a less lively Monkey, I and our chef would suggest the Dream Sequence video from Monkey Island 2. In full technicolor. And surround sound. I swear it's vibrating too. Just press play (via).

In the dark future there is only 40k

Now, this is a truly impressive video. It's the introductory sequence from the (definitely above average) very good-looking RTS Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War by Relic. Since Shawn of War has yet to be produced (hey Universal, I'm open to offers) and causality is a trivial thing, amaze your friends and pets by showing them this:

Every Darth Vader groupie, gnome or human, was waiting for this. Darth Vader (the statesman and keeper of the peace) directing Darth Vader (the theme song). LEGO style. Pure class.

The Heart of the Dungeon (and the Dragon of course)

Everybody has heard of pen and paper RPGs, the plague of our modern society, the bane of civilisation, the great Devourer of the Pure. Take a peek at (this documentary, well almost a documentary) the way innocent children (20somethings actually, but who cares) are transformed into hideous looking beasts and are forced to engage in terrifying, blasphemous and orgiastic activities. Or perhaps see (by following the link, that is) what wargamers had to say about Dungeons and Dragons, back in the 70s... But no matter what, do not give in to temptation!

The Spore of the Sims

The Sims was an innovative concept that almost got canceled, avoided such an unfair fate, and now is Electronic Arts' major cashcow, and quite a nuisance for both hardcore and aesthete gamers. The Sims also helped establish Will Wright's fame as both a talented and a money-making games designer, thus earning him the right (and above all the funds) to further experiment with the gaming medium. Spore is the name of his next project, and it truly feels like the evolution of open-ended gaming (or digital playing). Spore could be the most important game yet. Just take a look at the video. It's almost 36 minutes long (35'47'' to be precise), but what else would you except from a game that has you starting as an amoebae and after a few stages lets you control solar systems? You'll be watching gaming history in the making. It's funny too.
