Remember that cuddliest of Blackwell competitions I ran some time ago? Good. Well, it seems that one of the winners failed to show up and grab the prize and -lacking any meaningful way of contact- I've decided I wont be waiting any longer. This of course means that Gnome's Lair is having another give-away! Hooray!
Simply leave a comment on this very post (make sure I have some way of contacting you) and you might just win one Steam copy of all Blackwell games. Yes, that would indeed mean that you'll be able to play the excellent Blackwell Legacy, Blackwell Unbound, Blackwell Convergence and Blackwell Deception for free. You have till Monday.
[UPDATE]: The competition is over. Also Frank Powers has won and will be contacted asap! Hope to have more goodies to share soon. Oh, and don't forget to give the Blackwell series a try dears. It really is amazing!

ReplyDeleteYes, well, you know; it was a spontaneous thing. At the very least we did actually skip the orgy bit. Anyways... here's an extra 3 euros and Alf to help you out.
Delete(instantly pockets the 3 euro...) :)
DeleteNo orgy? you are maturing... and as for that Alf guy...
Muliple personality disorder... shhhh ya didn't hear it from me....
...I mean you heard it from me.....but I'm not sure it's really me...
:(
Right this carpet won't clean itself......
Indeed. But who are you? Who are we? Is I you? Is Elderly us?
DeleteConfusing. Oh, and maturing = getting older.
Me back...
Alright, having played through all four games in the meantime, here's what I have to say.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all: I grown to really like the series and will definitely have to spend some money as soon as the next installment is available. In their respective way, every part of the series was good, although some were indeed better than others.
Indeed, I liked numbers one and three (Blackwell Legacy and Convergence) best - pretty logical puzzles, no big lenghts to overcome, great entertainment value. Numbers two and four were also enjoyable, but at a few instances I had to actually resort to a walkthrough for valuable hints - puzzles sometimes were a bit more far-fetched in these two games, at least in my impression.
In terms of political incorrectness, Blackwell Unbound was the most satisfying to me - all that cigarette smoking was a nice diversion from today's etiquette (and masde me crave for a cigarette). Also, Lauren is, at least to my liking, a somewhat more interesting character than her niece. But alas, no portraits during dialogues, I really missed these during gameplay. Immersion into the game suffered somewhat from their absence. OT: At the end of the game, my character had smoked 41 cigarettes.
All in all, a great adventure series and a wonderful price - thanks a lot another time, dear Gnome. What a great way to "waste" several evenings. Looking forward to the next episode, and your review of it.
So glad yo enjoyed the games Frank! I too believe they are excellent and some of the best adventures I've ever played. Mind you, I too love the 70s episode (and the smoking animation), though my favourite one has to be Deception.
DeleteLooking forward to the next (two I believe) Blackwells myself!
Cheers my friend!
