Dungeons and Dragons freeware cartography

Ever since the accursed 3rd edition of Dungeons and Dragons was unleashed, us poor gamers have been forced to battle using -besides our amazing and frankly adolescent imagination- miniatures and grids. Our even poorer DMs have been forced to actually prepare said grids, while also facing the constant challenge of mapping a variety of mostly fantasy-themed locations. Well, fellow DnDers, rejoice! TogaMario.com released an extremely easy to use, but also smart and versatile, DnD mapper that's available for free: FreeCountry. Download it.

  2. Thanks for the props :) It's in it's infant stages, but I promise, it'll be much better when I get some more time to knock out major workflow flaws (and add some more free art to it).

  7. :P nice

Any suggestions for the next release? I'm toying with the notion of putting the next release off until I can get drag/drop and proper tile previewing going, but then, who knows how long might take me? By the way, if you haven't noticed, I'm not a professional programmer, lol, but a very a determined DnD nerd.

  8. Actually, I hadn't noticed really...

    :)

As for suggestions, well, uhm, more props would be fine and some sort of labeling tool... Oh, and perhaps having some square-tiles of land/dirt/ rocks...

BTW, nice of you to ask. Here's your tea...

  13. Oh, me likes the labeling tool idea! (/me marks his scrap paper with more "design notes"). Thanks :D

I'm working on an auto-fill tool that will fill paint the whole map a specific tile, so the square terrain blocks will be coming shortly. Thanks again!
