There was a happy era, once. An era when game documentation actually mattered, an era when wise artists in wizards' clothing created beautiful, stunning and disturbingly detailed game manual covers just (well, almost just) like the one pictured above by Bob Flemate. An era when the 8-bit Atari 400/800 reigned supreme.Good news is we now live in an era, that, although slightly war torn and quite a bit less creative, does allow said quality art to be enjoyed for free. Simply head over to this particular part of The New Gamer and download both the PDF manual of Space Invaders and high-resolution scans (up to 1680x1050) of its cover.
