A teaser to tease you with

Yes, it's a scan of something and probably contains a hint on what I've already started working on. It's a game mind and I'm not doing it alone. Oh, no. A most accomplished indie creator has already joined and he will be thinking, programming, designing, writing and possibly dancing for this humble yet hopefully refreshing project. Can't say anything else for now, but do watch this space. It will be watching back you know.

  1. Oh ho ho.. this is quite a tease. Can you give us a hint at if it will be written in Inform7, TADS, or Adrift? :D

  2. Hah! You didn't think it would be that easy, did you dear Chris? But, to answer your question, well, no. ;)

  3. Dang! Okay - LPMud? TinyMUD? NakedMUD?!

    I give up.
    :)

  4. He, he, teheehe, he.

    Nope. Neither SMmud or MudZX...

  5. !!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!

Did you even read those Speccy articles in "Retro Gamer" magazine?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Absolutely devoured them! Well not absolutely really, but in a most metaphorical manner. Browse a few of the more recent posts and see what I got meself too...

  7. You got a release date yet...?

    ReplyDelete
  8. that was supposed to be "Did you *ever* read" ha ha ha.. woops.

I saw your insane Spectrum haul earlier in the posts .. I was drooling. There's no such thing as the spectrum on this side of the pond :( I've had to emulate my way through life so far... some day though! It would go along nicely with my Amiga 1000, C64c, 520/1040STe's... I'm jealous!

  9. Not really Deitrix dear, not really. Shouldn't be ready in a few months though... Well, possibly.

Yes, indeed, Chris. Ever does sound like the appropriate word really. As for Spectrums I do post a few nice finds over at Retro Treasures, but a search at eBay should serve you fine. Shipping costs aren't that prohibitive. It's a small computer after all.

  10. Aaaaaaaaaah!

Oh, and how's the trouble with sites Oddbob? Should we expect them back soon?

  11. Gnome's doing a game? Is there anything you CAN'T do? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not much of a dancer really. Or a programmer. Or a musician. Other than that pretty much anything is possible. Provided it doesn't involve airplanes, that is.

  13. I am looking forward to that highly interesting-looking game. Gnomes plus games can't possibly equal anything but awesome. Better by far than dwarves and games, of course (well, except for Dwarf Fortress). Do give us more sometime soon.

  14. Thanks for the confidence boosting comment Ithmeer. Hopefully more information will (very) soon appear.

And Dwarf Fortress... what a gem of a game.

  15. You're either doing an RPG about being a secret swordsman and how you go about the world silently killing people with your trusty backpack, or its magic game! where you're an aspiring magician, except instead of pulling bunnies out of your hat you pull alligators out of your backpack! Except the magician business is quite dog-eat-dog, so you have to rise to the top while avoiding the traps laid out for you (such as the swords in the backpack, left there by a nearby juggler)

Good luck, they both sound like quite nifty little stories =).

  16. Well, I'm certainly intrigued.

  17. Well, Dan, that's ... err... interesting to say the least. Absolutely. Aha. And almost close. Not really, no :)

Pacian, you actually should be. It's only fair.

  18. Ye olde bag of Swords.

    a classic.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Can you let some concept art leak out...?

    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I see some swords, and well concerning you Do know infocom and thus you must be aware of text adventures, is this something like Eric the Unready?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Or is it the Pointy Sotry Of Bagged Steel? Who can tell oh Caleb?

You wouldn't want me leaking, would you Deitrix dear?

Hmmm, Dualnames. You might be wrong. You might be right. Then again telling you anything might spell your doom. That's the law around here...

  22. I started writing an IF game with TADS around eight or nine years ago. I actually managed to rescue a compiled and playable "test" version with a few working rooms and even a working puzzle but, unfortunately, the original code has been lost and it's unlikely I'll return to it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hoooo, the mystery, the suspense... :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. The only thing close to text, I've worked on is a remake of hhgtg

    ReplyDelete
  25. That truly is a shame dear Matty. Oh, and don't think it's something TADS related I'm working on. BTW, what was your game about?

There, there, Nebacha... 'ave some tea.

A remake of HHGttG you say Dualnames? Most interesting. Do tell...

  26. Hmm. Ok I think I got what is happening here...

"Blood slowly leaked out of Fang's Stomach.

It was the swift and horrid price he paid

If he had been warned he would have never been there

in the first place. He knew he had made

some very bad decisions in the past but this was only a small

error and he never would have thought it would lead to bloody and

painful death. He shook his head ruefully. If they

thought he would talk they had no idea who they were messing with........

The had left the bag of knives too close to him. He only had to slide on of

the bloody instruments nearer to his bound hands."

    How close am I Gnome?

    ReplyDelete
  27. not much, but you're definitely brilliantly eloquent! And funny!

  28. Oops. Missed a line Re-Write.

"Blood slowly leaked out of Fang's Stomach.

It was the swift and horrid price he paid

If he had been warned he would have never been there.

He supposed this was the price he got for hoping on

that stolen horse he found. He knew he had made

some very bad decisions in the past but this was only a small

error and he never would have thought it would lead to bloody and

painful death. He shook his head ruefully. If they

thought he would talk they had no idea who they were messing with........

The had left the bag of knives too close to him. He only had to move to the side of the

the cave to reach the bloody instruments that had been used in his questioning."

  29. Hmm. You do have that ad for Trauma Center on your site now.

Maybe this is "Trauma Center: Medieval Edition"?

  30. My unfinished game was basically a pastiche of dungeon-crawl games like "Zork" with a bit more humour. One thing I really wanted in it was a mouldy head. This is because I once wrote a simple IF game with a very simple amiga game-writing tool where characters would wander around independently picking things up. I put a mouldy head in one room and my first encounter of it in the game proper was a friendly character deciding to give it to me. This was so excellent/funny/strange that I determined such a thing should happen in my new game. Never got around to it, alas.

  31. It turns out my parent must have thrown out my text games I made with Basic and Pascal.

I could not find the disks when I looked for them awhile back.

    ...too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's actually mostly under the radar but a couple of guys have found out about the project and send me a mail about it. Yep, remaking a text game to a graphical point and click is really a weird and hard thing to do, but as we just reached beta testing, I think the result is really good. And at least more newbie friendly(there'a a difficulty setting for hard core players). I suppose you've played the original. Check the AGS forums or ask me to send a link if you want to see more. :D

  33. @ Caleb: You weird knife bagging non-rhyming person. Ah, 't was truly stuff of LOLs.

@ Matty: A great concept though. Shame, shame, shame...

@ Dualnames: Link please kind Sire.

  34. He, he. You're as bad as me with that Retroaction teaser stuff I did. This game project does sounds very intriguing, indeed, and maybe something that can be covered in a future issue of a certain digital magazine, which will be launched very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hehe. Hopefully said mysterious yet obviously glorious publication will indeed cover our mysterious game. Oh, and anyone interested, consider this another hint ;)
