Warhammer: the 25 years video retrospective

Amazingly it has already been 25 years since Warhammer started destroying lives, wallets, relationships etc and yet we still love it. Apparently the excellent people of the Miniatures Wargaming Union love it quite a bit more and to the extent of actually producing the above -frankly amazing- videos. Watch and learn kids, watch and learn. Then click here.

  1. Anyone know what an Arachnitid was? That was the only Warhammer race I didn't know.

I stopped playing years ago but I still have all of my Blood Bowl figures. I's nice to have such pretty souvenirs.

  2. Not that I have actually ever seen an arachnid, but -if I remeber correctly and judging from some bitz catalogs lying around- they were a race of nasty spiders abandoned by GW eons ago. Ahh.... BloodBowl... such a smart little game... Still heavily supported by the Specialist range y' know...

  4. Pretty amazing videos! Never played Warhammer myself, or any other tabletop game for that matter, but I can somehow imagine what a game should be like... awesome!

  6. This post is amazing! I believe that this post is a big bang for all of us gamers, comic fans, fantasists and dweebs! It's like nerd central and I don't mean that in a negative sense. We are all essentially peeps with vibrant imaginations! I've never bought into the dungeons and dragons world, but I'm very proud to say my youngest son has! He actually buys and paints Warhammer figures, though he's never played a game.

Admittedly, World Of warcraft has enabled him to see that whole scene
'come to life' quite literally, but I salute those whose imaginations were strong enough to 'see' that before the days of powerful computers and MMORPGs...

  8. Awesome!
Once in a while I pick up some characters if I think they look cool.. Never play the game, but I like the character designs... They make good in the ole office. Plus my son loves to battle with them...

I'm talking bollocks aren't I? What I meant to say was that little Ted has been the only gamer in my house that has been able to dig the Warhammer scene. (e.g. buy Warhammer figures) He's never played a none videogame, turned based RPG, but he likes the figures!

What he really digs is WOW, where he can see Gnomes and Elves etc. running around on a screen.

I salute those who could get into the whole RPG scene, when the only stuff they had was little figures, a dice and their imaginations.

    Hope that makes sense...

  11. Very nice videos. Though Warhammer to me has never held my interest as much as 40K has - I still enjoy a game every so often. It's a fun "universe" to play in.

  12. Absolutely Father. Actually it made sense first time around too, but I really can't add anything to it... It's a perfect picture! Kids brought up the proper way... :)

Actually dear Dane of War I too prefer the writing/setting of 40k, though I absolutely love the WHFB rules and minis... Go figure...
