Broken Sword 2.5, capriciously called The Return of the Templars, is a promising and apparently still ongoing fan-project from Germany, that will hopefully recapture the cartoon quality and quirky spirit of the first two Broken Sword games. Obviously, for free, as a) the developers are kind and generous people, and b) they are quite afraid of lawyers.
The game, another epic adventure of the not-particularly-bright American George Stobbart, will be a classic point-and-click PC adventure (left click to interact/use/talk, right click to examine) sporting top production values and a splash of humor. Judging by the demo (the 2nd one released no less), background graphics, character animation and music are superb, while the puzzles seem to be coming along nicely too. The voice over is in German -also wisely subtitled in English- and is pretty much okay, as are the few jokes present. All in all a most promising of fanadventures, really.

Thanks for the link Gnome - I am downloading it as we speak!
I loved Broken Sword 2, especially the cabbage guy (we kept saving and replaying that bit just so we could hear him say cabbages again).
