Now, this is really sick! Nice!

The morals regulating video games are evidently quite weird. Unethical some might even say... You see, whereas showing a naked woman, an erect penis or two (perhaps even quite a few more) people having interesting sex is an absolute taboo and a definite financial risk, truly obscene acts like skinning somebody or chopping a head off are considered (relatively) ok. They might, at times and according to genre, be even seen as cliche. Still, as I'm against bigotry and censorship of any kind (all gnomes are), I've chosen to present you with the most disturbing gaming scenes I've yet encountered. With no particular reason(I was actually thinking of doing the sexy part, but that's quite a task. Soon, though...). Hope you'll find the following pics interesting...

Mind you, they are (very) disgusting.

Good.

Black Mirror

Silent Hill

Carmageddon

Dare to Dream

Soldier of Fortune

Elvira

Mystery of the Druids

DiviDead

The Suffering

Still Life

Fun, wasn't it? Now, have a look at some free (and hopefully relaxing) games, read all about Sensible Soccer 06 or just have a look at non-slutty gaming (female) characters.

  1. Excellent, defining post. Games have a similar rating system to films, a nude mod pops up and everybody goes ballistic. Quite weird morals indeed.

  2. Almost terrifying... It's a world where sex is apparently considered dangerous, or at best immoral...

You see, it's really frustrating being reminded the frigging Dark Ages aren't over yet. Well, almost. Ok, that's a bit over-reacting, but lets talk "intelligent design"...

Glad you enjoyed the post Mr. Elderly.

  3. What about phantasmagoria?

  4. About Phantasnagoria:

    a) The only disturbing thing is the acting...

    b) It's far to much of a movie to enter the games discussion.

    c) It's shite.

    d) It didn't frighten me.

    e) It's shite.

    f) This is a subjective list.

    g) I totally forgot about it!

    :)

  5. Condemned deserves a spot there. That's a pretty gross (sick) and scary game.

I'm sure there is a lot more, good list put together though =)

  6. I'm sure there's a lot more, but just like Condemned, it might be something I've never actually laid my tiny gnomish little hands on..

Weird though, it's a Monolith game I somply didn't notice.

  7. stilllife is a messed up game. personally i think the opening murder scene in stilllife is much worse than that one.

  8. Look for screenshots of the murder of Lucien Lachance in Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion. If I remember right, his lungs and heart are showing because half his chest is gone, his jaw was cut off, various cuts and flesh showing all over the body. I could be wrong about a few of those, but for sure I know his balls and penis have been cut off, leaving a fleshy area between the legs. What's more is that he's hanging upside down completely naked. Much more disgusting than some of the things in the list. And that blood smears on the floor from dragging bodies was also in Max Payne... I think.

  9. dood .. you should check out "Chronicles of riddick"(xbx)

The 2nd level there is some prison rape happening....

    Not cool.

    2nd up -
    "ManHunt"

The whole cutscenes that involve killing with plastic bags or the nailgun are pretty foul.

Im all for violence.. but those two both got traded promptly.

    Both Very disturbing.

  10. Brandon, thanks for the Oblivion tip... Care to provide a link for a relevant pic? It'd be nice, if you did.

And, my Anonymous friends, your observations have been carefuly noted down in my mystic tome. (Only Mr. Elderly, and perhaps Deitrix know of this arcane book).

    Cheers (all) for the comments

  11. Bloodrayne has some fairly gory moments ;)

  12. esrb rating for teens (13+) allows sexual themes, simulated gambling, minimal blood use of alcohol and tobacco, but no nudity whatsoever not even partial (as befell oblivion)

the use of firearms isn't even considered.

  13. AND a good looking protagonist too...

  14. ESRB seems to be a major part of the problem, doesn't it Mr. Elderly?

  16. On an unrelated note (sorry, don't know how to reach you otherwise):
Is Cratos (the Titan, I think) in classis Greek mythology male or female? I'm writing an article about "Mythological references in games", an different sources give different info on that. Being a Greek yourself, you may know better.
Also, if you know some rare myth-related games, you're welcome to share.

  17. I would have mentioned Post Moterm by Microids. There was the vision scene where the main character sees the decapatated heads.

Or how about Resident Evil where the Zombie drops the head after it half ate off his face.

  18. Not a bad list at all. I would have to add Snatcher, God of War, Splatterhouse, and Manhunt as some missed ones.

Snatcher has a two particular scenes that I am thinking of. One where a guys head is in his lap after being ripped off and another of a snatcher's face being shot off

  20. Mr Elderly, thanks again. Really.

Chentzilla, you mail me by clicking on the cont@ct button on the lower side of the sidebar. As for Cratos, he's definitely male, is a personification of power, but I don't think he's a Titan...A demigod perhaps?

Lionzub, the intro of post Mortem was indeed disturbing, but I just thought that having both Post Mortem and Still Life, would be too much...Resident Evil on the other hand would've been a nice addition.

Jakanden, thanks. You still are sick, but that's pretty muck ok. Snatcher seems like a game I might enjoy ;)

    Deitrix, that'samazing... I's a new Splinter Cell, isn't it?

  21. You could probably put a gruesome Hitman bloodbath in there. When things get really nasty they look much worse than that soldier of fortune one.

    ReplyDelete
  22. And Hitman is definitely a much better game than SoF too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey! You should put a screen of Cash decapitating a smiley guy in Manhunt!

  24. Perhaps I will... Perhaps not.

  25. Preview for Punisher

"the sheer brutality used in the melee interrogations is great to watch (such as slamming the thug's face into the concrete until he talks and then continuing until he's dead)"

esrb might not be the only ones to blame.

  26. One of the nastiest scenes I ever came across was the opening scene in Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix for the PS1. Definiatly worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

  27. Kolo Toure passing to Sol Campbell but Fernando Torres stealing the ball and slotting it past Lehman.

Pro Evolution 5. That goal will haunt my dreams for eternity.

  28. I remeber one Scene in Eternal Darkness where Alex sees herself dead in the tub with the water saturated red with blood.

    Adding web page.

  30. That Eternal Darkness bit is parodied in Timsplitters: Future Perfect in the mansion level.

    Great post too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tomleece, keep on parodying stuff :) Right.

Oh dear Blackett please don't blame Kolo... Yaya can be quite more irritating a Toure (PES or not).

Shadow of Oblivion, glad you liked it, but where exactly are you adding the page?

Stellarworld, just had a look over at mobygames. Quite an interesting game...

  33. Well Gnome, I think you have found a really good attention getter here with your Sick Page...
You should put up a new one every week with a few images here and there- Theres surely enough to keep it going for a long while..!

I also will have a new chap. in The Lost Lair series up tomorrow sometime...

  34. Just found a link on the floor, if no one else claims it I'm having it...from resident evil 4

    http://www.nlgaming.com/showPic.asp?
    ShowPic=/games/1009/016.jpg

it's probably too tame as it contains absolutely no nudity

    ReplyDelete
  35. I got here via joystiq.com

    ReplyDelete
  36. Deitrix, sorry, but the only weekly (thus standardized) feature will always be Museum Monday. Us gnomes have never been populist...BTW, can't wait to see what goes on with the Lost Lair saga...

Mr. Elderly, my point exactly. And that was Resident Evil 4... A very good game.

Shadow, I guess then I'll just have to thank Joystiq. It's good having you here...
